Further information about the origins of Arashi Kenpo Ju Jitsu

Kenpo

Kenpo is a modern eclectic system of combat, although its origins are unclear. It seems to be accepted that it has been influenced by India, China, Japan, Okinawa, Hawaii and America. Zen Buddhist monks are said to of introduced Indian fighting methods to ancient China. The most renowned of these monks, being Bodhidharma (also known as Daruma), who travelled to China at the end of the 5th Century AD and began teaching at the Shaolin monastery. It is thought that Bodhidharma, taught a series of breathing exercises, to improve the strength and endurance of the monks. These exercises became the basis of what in Japanese was called Shorinji Kempo and in Chinese was called 'Chuan Fa' or 'Fist law'. In 1916, James Mitose travelled from Hawaii to Japan, to learn his families art of self defense, said to be a a direct descendant of 'Chaun Fa'. He then travelled back to Hawaii, and developed Kosho Ryu Kenpo ('Old pine tree style') .. which became a very effective, street fighting system in the 1940s. Mitose taught his Kenpo system to a select band of students, who later on developed very effective combat systems of their own. The late Ed Parker who introduced it to the USA then throughout Europe developed modern Kenpo. Kenpo is often termed as "sophisticated street fighting" or "the beautiful but brutal art" it is a totally combat orientated system.

Juko Ryu Jujitsu

Juko Rvu Ju Jitsu is an original martial Art founded in 1961 by Soke, Rod Sacharnoski 10th Dan. The art itself is a combat system developed solely for the purpose of close in hand-to-hand combat. As with most traditional Japanese Ju Jitsu, the opponent is first struck or kicked to a vital area prior to a throw or technique being applied. Juko Ryu not only employs throws, locks, sweeps, chokes, joint dislocations, pins and reaps of Ju Jitsu systems, but also teaches the weapon arts and internal breathing (KI/CHI) methods which enable practitioners to with stand and take full power blows to the body.

Atemi Jutsu

Atemi Jutsu is a Japanese martial art, which has its origins in the ancient warrior arts of the samurai. Atemi Jutsu is part of the warrior arts that specialises in strikes to the body's nervous system and weak points. These techniques were developed for close in fighting by the samurai when they were un-horsed and unarmed. Atemi Jutsu techniques are very powerful and dangerous when used on an opponent.

Pa Kua

Pa Kua (a.k.a. PaKua, Pa Qua, PaQua, Ba Gua, BaGua, Ba Gwa, or BaGwa) is an internal system of Chinese kung fu, which dates back some 700 years. The techniques of Pa Kua are designed around a person moving in a circular motion when defending against attackers. The individual techniques are delivered very fast and are designed to inflict immense pain on the person on the receiving end of them. Pa Kua emphasises internal breathing methods to develop the inner power known as "chi" or "Ki' which when combined with the actual combat techniques make this particular system very effective indeed.

Spirit Combat

Spirit Combat is a modern martial art developed by Soke Brian Dossett 10th Dan. Soke Dossett has been involved in the martial arts for over fifty years having trained in many types of Jujitsu systems along with other combat martial arts. Soke Dossett was one of the leading figures in the early development of Ju jitsu in the UK. Soke Dossett became disillusioned with the way these arts were being developed and influenced by the Japanese teachers at the time. Basically Japanese teachers were getting oil the plane in Japan as say a 3rd Dan Black Belt, and getting off in the UK with say a 6th or 7th Dan!! Soke Dossett's Spirit Combat system is one of the most effective and efficient non-oriental systems of combat practised today. Its main emphasis is on using the attackers momentum to defeat them. It is a totally unique system.

The above systems are the nucleus of the "ARASHI KENPO JUJITSU" system, along with other street fighting methods.
